Banks Shot

After months of speculation that it was going to be the Oregon safety or that it could be Kenyon Sadiq to replace TJ Hockenson after the upcoming season, it turned out to be a left-field selection.

Caleb Banks was not a familiar name during the process and with his medical history, it remains to be seen whether this was the prudent pick. But before going any further, how about some highlights!

Okay, now Brian Flores has a beast of a player to bring heat on quarterbacks while Andrew Van Ginkle, Jonathon Greenard & Dallas Turner all bring pressure from the edges. The potential for mayhem writes itself!

But for Brzezinski to not get the same label as his predecessors, the training staff will have to get him into consistent playing condition after missing all but three games a year ago and being limited to 12 in each of the previous two campaigns.

As much as anything, that is the shot they are taking. That the Wilf's willingness to provide just about anything for the team can help take him from promising to dominating!

When you consider that Cincinnati just gave up the 10th pick for a proven player at defensive tackle it makes sense to go for a human force of nature with the potential to far-exceed the middle of the first round. Again, it's a moon-shot move and that's as exciting as it is curious!

Selection Grade: B

There is plenty to be optimistic about with the pick but until Banks shows that he can be a 15+ games per season player, the regard will be muted.
