It's only week three and Minnesota sports' history hangs over everything so hopefully that wasn't THEE highlight of the season.

But even if the offense, defense and special teams don't manage to click on that many cylinders again (because this was the wide margin of victory for the team since 98) before the finale that one will stick in all of our minds for quite some time!

That foreword aside, Isaiah Rodgers just single-handedly beat a 53-man roster

A guy that few, if any, of us were that high on when they signed him and surely no one expected a performance like today to happen from him just did something that none of the thousands of players who preceded today had done. The pick-six validated signing him. Then he did it again with a scoop & score! Per the Team's Communication, he's the first EVER with two touchdowns and two forced fumbles. HE EARNED ALL THE PAY TODAY!!

Mr. Rodgers wasn't the only one to make team history today as Will (Striker) Reichard nailed the longest kick, surpassing Blair Walsh by a yard.

So those were the individual high-water marks but with three takeaways via five fumbles and a second interception, the defense was bludgeoning these Bungels!

With the recently-signed Carson Wentz as the operator of the offense it was the exact sort of performance that they needed to take the pressure off.

The same goes for Jordan Mason who toted the rock for 116 yards & two touchdowns. It's only the fourth 100+ yard rushing game of his four-year career and he had never had a multi-score game so the team didn't miss much of a beat with Aaron Jones in lounge wear!

So Wentz just had to do what we had been preaching for McCarthy to do - don't throw the game away. He took some sacks instead of risking the ball and generally never gave the Overmatched a chance to tip the scale in their favor. Now he will have the benefit of more time to learn how the players around him do things and can take a little more of the weight of the offense against a better Pittsburgh team and then Cleveland before the bye. A 3-0 run is well within reach if he can build on today and it would certainly give him more of a chance to stay in the League beyond this year, which is the subtext of his run with Minnesota. Then comes a visit by the loathsome Philly outfit. Only time will tell if he gets that revenge game but he earned the green light which was going to be his regardless for the time being.

Just as a larger point, it goes to show why we are all so wild about this game - from week to week no one knows what's going to happen. The dreadful lows to absurd highs!

Now onto The Island!
